Hiking holiday in the Zillertal
Through meadows and forests
With its beautiful hiking trails, the Zillertal invites its guests to Tirol. From a leisurely walk to a sporty climbing tour – the well-developed network of hiking paths and via ferratas offers the perfect route for every taste. Once you reach the top, a breathtaking view of the Alpine peaks awaits you. Along the way, you'll find rustic mountain huts and romantic alpine restaurants where you can taste Zillertal dishes and authentic Tyrolean cuisine.
The Hotel Post in Kaltenbach is the first choice for your hiking holiday in the Zillertal. You can start your nature experience directly from the hotel. Hiking backpacks and walking sticks are available for free at the reception.
We consider the Hotel Post a true place of well-being for our guests: Whether hiking, biking, or paragliding – our summer can be enjoyed from every perspective!
Many hiking tours start directly in Kaltenbach. You simply begin from the hotel. The hiking trail along the Ziller stretches throughout the entire Zillertal, named after the river. The 60-kilometre route has a very flat elevation profile, making it well-suited for beginners and families. For the return journey, the Zillertal Railway and several buses are available.
A bit more sporty is the Hochzillertal trail, which leads to the Kaltenbach waterfall and on to Ried. The 9-kilometre cross-country run doesn’t require special hiking equipment, but does need a bit more stamina. For alpine tours at over 2,000 meters above sea level, the via ferrata at Gerlossteinwand is a great option, with practice available beforehand at the high rope course in Kaltenbach near Hotel Post.
